The Tamil Nadu Real Estate Regulatory Authority (TNRERA) will make provisions on its website to provide project-specific information of every real estate promoter in its website for the benefit of customers, said TNRERA Chairman Shiv Das Meena.

Delivering the keynote address at The Hindu Tamil Nadu Real Estate Summit 2025 in Chennai on Tuesday (August 5, 2025), Mr. Meena said: “Under Section 11 of the Act, every promoter is supposed to create a page for every project on the RERA website and provide all the details, not only once, but also we are supposed to update the details on a regular basis.”

“Transparency must not be seen as a burden. It is an investment in your long term credibility and customer trust. I encourage you to ensure that all project related information including land title, approvals, construction timelines, and financials are disclosed honestly on the RERA platform. It is mandated under Section 4 of the Act to provide all these information while applying to RERA for registration,” he said.

Every communication with home buyers, marketing materials, allotment letters, agreements for sale, and handover documents should be of the highest standard of transparency. Delivery timelines and contractual commitments must be honoured and petitions that may cause disputes later must be avoided. The number of disputes between homebuyers and developers can be drastically reduced, thus paving waving for the growth of mutual trust, stated Mr. Meena.

Pointing to the issues pertaining to violation of advertisement guidelines, the TNRERA Chairperson said advertising should be factual and responsible. Flagging the issue of flex boards with attractive prices without adequate information about the projects, he said the advertisement has to provide information including location and mention if the project has been registered with RERA. “We believe that advertising should empower the home buyer with correct information and not overwhelm or mislead them. I appeal to all promoters to study these guidelines carefully. RERA encourages innovation while safeguarding consumer interest,” Mr. Meena told.

Nirmala Lakshman, Chairperson of The Hindu Group and L.V. Navaneeth, Chief Executive Officer of The Hindu Group were also present during the inaugural.

The event is presented by Casagrand and co-presented by GSquare. The Green Energy partner for the event is Swelect and the Sports Ecosystem partners are SDAT and Tamil Nadu Champions Foundation. The event is supported by CREDAI Tamil Nadu, Lancor, Namma Family Group. The Strategic partner is MMA (Madras Management Association) and the TV partners are Puthiya Thalaimurai, the Federal voice of the States.
