Tata Motors is all set to launch the new Tata Sierra EV SUV in the Indian market tomorrow, i.e., June 30, 2026. The Tata Sierra EV is expected to share much of its technology with the Harrier EV while retaining the Sierra’s signature design.
The electric SUV has been teased extensively by the company in recent weeks. It has also become the first Indian electric SUV to climb the Tal Moreeb sand dune in Abu Dhabi. In this article, let’s take a look at the key differences between the Tata Sierra EV and ICE.Design differencesThe Tata Sierra EV and Sierra ICE share the same overall styling, with most of the changes concentrated at the front. Both SUVs feature slim projector LED headlamps connected by a full-width LED light bar.
The key difference lies in the grille. The Sierra EV uses a sealed, body-coloured grille, while the ICE version gets a gloss-black grille with functional air vents.

The front bumper design also differs. The EV has a gloss-black insert running below the headlamps, whereas the ICE model uses a body-coloured panel in the same section, with gloss-black trim restricted to the lower bumper. Both versions continue with vertically stacked LED fog lamps and a faux-silver skid plate.
On the sides, there is little to separate the two SUVs. The Sierra EV can be identified by the ‘Tata. ev’s badge on the front doors. Apart from that, both models share flush-fitting door handles, the same window line, Alpine-style rear quarter glass, identical alloy wheels and gloss-black cladding around the wheel arches and lower body. The rear design remains almost unchanged across both versions. The only distinguishing feature is the ‘Sierra.
EV’s badge on the tailgate of the electric model. The connected LED tail-light bar, gloss-black bumper, reflectors, faux-silver skid plate and body-coloured roof spoiler are common to both SUVs.
InteriorTata has not yet unveiled the Sierra EV’s cabin, but it is expected to closely mirror the ICE model. Both are likely to feature a triple-screen layout comprising a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch display for the front passenger.
All these screens will receive an updated UI with EV-specific information. The EV could receive a redesigned steering wheel with Tata.
ev branding, a different interior colour scheme and sustainable upholstery. It is also expected to offer EV-specific features such as Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) charging.PowertrainThe Sierra EV is based on Tata’s ACTI EV+ platform, the same architecture used by the Harrier EV.
While technical specifications are yet to be announced, Tata has confirmed that the electric SUV will be offered with an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system. Lower variants could also be available with rear-wheel drive (RWD). The Sierra EV is expected to use the Harrier EV’s 65kWh and 75kWh battery packs. The Sierra ICE, on the other hand, is offered with three engine options - a 1.5-litre turbo diesel, a 1.5-litre NA petrol and a 1.5-litre turbo petrol. The Sierra EV will be priced higher than the ICE version. Tata may also offer the Sierra EV under its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) programme, similar to the Punch EV and Tiago EV, reducing the initial purchase cost through a battery subscription option. The Sierra ICE is currently priced between Rs 11.49 lakh and Rs 21.29 lakh (ex-showroom).
