Taylor Swift playfully crowns Travis Kelce her “in-house house guy” after Chris Lake remix surprise

Taylor Swift jokes about Travis Kelce’s remix hustle as Chris Lake announcement stuns fans

Taylor Swift has a newfound love of EDM, and the spark behind it traces back to Travis Kelce. What began as a casual direct message has now turned into an official remix release, with DJ Chris Lake putting his spin on Swift’s track “Opalite.”

The collaboration unfolded in public view on Feb.

13, when Lake shared screenshots of his January exchange with Kelce, offering fans a rare look at how a remix can take shape in real time.Lake reached out first, telling Kelce he would “take a crack at remixing” a track for Swift and would do his “best.” Kelce’s reply came with genuine enthusiasm. “Chris! You're a legend bro love everything you come out with, and Chemistry is one of my favorite albums I listen to right now!! Can't to see how you put it together man,” he wrote.

He added, “Caught you and The Fish at Coachella a while back and is still one of my favorite sets of all time.

Two days later, Lake followed up, saying he had “something really cool with this.” When Kelce heard the finished version, he did not hold back. “It's so good dawg, I'm gonna be rippin this s--- every car ride,” he said, before adding, “She loves it too!! She said her teams gonna reach out asap!”

Taylor Swift’s EDM shift began with Travis Kelce’s DM to Chris Lake

The exchange answers the obvious questions. Who sparked the remix? Kelce.

When did it happen? January, weeks before the public announcement. How did it move forward? Swift’s team quickly stepped in after hearing the track. Why does it matter? Because it signals Swift’s growing comfort with house and club sounds, guided in part by her fiancé’s taste.

Lake announced that “Opalite (Chris Lake Remix)” would be available for preorder on CD for 48 hours, writing, “When @killatrav & @taylorswift hit you about an official remix..

you get it done :).” He added, “My official remix of ‘Opalite’ @taylorswift is now available for preorder on CD - stay tuned for more info about the release,” and assured followers, “(Don’t worry I got Travis’ permission to post these :)).”

Swift leaned into the moment. Sharing the post to her Instagram Stories, she wrote, “Confirmed. Travis is my in-house house guy,” with a prayer emoji. The same day, she released extended versions of the “Opalite” music video and posted behind-the-scenes photos. “I never want to forget a single detail of this hysterical shoot, and now I don’t have to! Excited to share more of the Opalite Music Video with two extended versions full of dance lessoning, our phenomenal cameos, camcorder footage, gigantic scrunchies & fanny pack angles! Parts 1 & 2 are out now at link in bio,” she wrote.
