In a major development in the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS)-linked case in Nashik, three additional victims are expected to file fresh FIRs against the accused, potentially taking the total number of complaints to between 12 and 14, police sources said on Wednesday.
The breakthrough follows sustained counselling efforts by the Nashik Police and a Special Investigation Team (SIT), which had been engaging with the victims over the past several days.
Investigators said the women were initially hesitant to approach the police due to fear, trauma and social pressure, but agreed to pursue legal action after repeated assurances of protection and support.
Officials believe the testimonies of the new complainants could significantly strengthen the case, which involves allegations of sexual exploitation, coercion and attempted forced religious conversions at the workplace.
Detailed statements are expected to be recorded soon, with investigators examining whether the accounts reveal fresh patterns of abuse or point to a wider, organised network.
The case centres on alleged misconduct at the Nashik office of Tata Consultancy Services, where two suspended employees, Tausif Attar and Nida Khan, are suspected to be the key perpetrators.
Senior police officers said the duo allegedly manipulated and brainwashed colleagues over several years. Four police teams have been formed to trace Khan, who is absconding and was earlier working as an HR manager before being transferred to Mumbai.
According to investigators, Attar allegedly used false promises of marriage to sexually exploit a victim while concealing that he was already married with children.
Police further allege that both accused repeatedly disparaged Hindu beliefs and pressured victims to convert, with Khan allegedly introducing young women to Attar and instructing them in Islamic practices.
Meanwhile, a local court in Nashik has extended the police custody of suspended TCS senior manager Ashwini Chainani by two days.
Chainani, who is based in Pune, is accused of failing to act on complaints raised by victims despite extensive email and phone communication. Police told the court that timely intervention could have prevented the alleged abuse from continuing.
So far, nine FIRs have been registered, seven accused arrested, and one remains absconding. Police say the alleged harassment and coercion continued for nearly four years. TCS has suspended all eight employees named in the case.
The Tata Group has said it is cooperating with authorities, with Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran assuring strict action against anyone found guilty. The group reiterated its “zero-tolerance policy" towards coercion, abuse or misconduct by employees.
