Teacher held for sexually assaulting girls at govt residential school in Kallakurichi

Kallakurichi: A temporary teacher at a govt tribal residential school near Kallakurichi was arrested on charges of sexually assaulting girl students. The issue came to light a few days ago during an awareness program by the district’s Singappen special task force, when several Class IX students came forward to report that they were being subjected to persistent sexual harassment by the computer teacher, A Suresh, 42.The Singappen team alerted the Kariyalur police and the Kallakurichi all-women police. Investigations found sufficient grounds that Suresh had been abusing his position and sexually harassing the students. Based on a complaint by the school hostel warden, Kiruthika, police registered a case under the Pocso Act and arrested Suresh. Further investigation is on.
