Teachers of Chandrampalem school complain against headmaster to local MLA

The staff told the MLA that if the situation continues, it would become difficult for anyone to work at the school

Visakhapatnam: A group of teachers and non-teaching staff from Chandrampalem High School in Visakhapatnam have alleged that the school headmaster has been harassing them. They claimed that he often abuses staff members without reason and makes derogatory remarks towards women teachers. The staff alleged that a junior assistant recently sought a transfer and left the school because he could no longer tolerate the headmaster’s behaviour. They further alleged that several inquiries have already been conducted against the headmaster, but no action was taken as he allegedly enjoys the support of higher authorities. They also claimed that district officials did not take the issue seriously and assigned the inquiry to a junior assistant and an attendant. The group met Bheemili MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao on Saturday and explained the problems they were facing because of the headmaster’s conduct. They also submitted a representation signed by over 70 of the school’s 82 staff members, raising objections to what they described as the headmaster’s “unilateral functioning”. The staff told the MLA that if the situation continues, it would become difficult for anyone to work at the school.

Srinivasa Rao said Chandrampalem High School, which has one of the highest student enrolments in the region, is a matter of pride for the state and that no form of indiscipline would be tolerated. He assured the staff that the allegations would be examined thoroughly and appropriate action would be taken based on the findings.
