Teen bride bludgeoned to death with helmet; husband among five held

Hubballi: A 19-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her husband, who assaulted her with a helmet following a domestic dispute in Tarihal village of Hubballi taluk on Wednesday, police said.The deceased has been identified as Nagarathna Halemani. Her husband, Shivaraj, a resident of Tarihal, had married Nagarathna, who hailed from Ibrahimpur village in Navalgund taluk, in February this year.According to police, an argument broke out between the couple on Wednesday morning and escalated into a violent altercation. During the quarrel, Shivaraj allegedly struck Nagarathna on the head with a helmet.

She suffered serious injuries, collapsed and died.Personnel from the Hubballi Rural police station visited the spot and conducted a preliminary investigation.Superintendent of Ppolice Gunjan Arya told TOI that the main accused, Shivaraj, has been taken into custody. Based on the complaint lodged in the case, five persons have been arrested so far.Police have registered a case and launched further investigations to ascertain the circumstances leading to the murder and the involvement of the other accused.
