Teenager and her boyfriend arrested for murder of mother in Hyderabad’s Jeedimetla

A 16-year-old girl, along with her boyfriend and his brother, has been arrested for murdering her mother who opposed their relationship.

The victim, 39-year-old Satla Anjali, a resident of New L.B. Nagar, was found dead in her kitchen in the early hours of Tuesday (June 24, 2025). Her younger daughter alerted relatives after discovering the body. The deceased was found lying on her back with ligature marks around her neck, indicating death by strangulation, said a police official.

According to Jeedimetla police, the teenager had been in a relationship with Pagilla Shiva Kumar, a 19-year-old DJ from Nalgonda district. Anjali, who disapproved of the relationship, had repeatedly warned her daughter to stay away from the youth. Enraged by her mother’s resistance, the girl is said to have plotted the murder with Shiva and his juvenile brother.

On Sunday evening, the girl allegedly sent her younger sister out of the house before letting the two boys in. The trio then strangled Anjali with a scarf and also inflicted a head injury to ensure her death. The accused then locked the house and told her younger sister to remain silent. The girl, however, informed her aunt, who lodged the police complaint. Following the arrest, the three were remanded to judicial custody.
