Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday (April 3, 2026) wooed textile industry to invest in the State by assuring best infrastructure, land, power, water, incentives and government support aimed at fastest execution of the projects.

“I have policies that can match the best globally. Most importantly, we have the best human resources. If you have a vision, we are your perfect partner for global success,” he said at the 13th Asian Textile Conference (ATEXCON 2026) in Hyderabad.

Asserting “together we can create an end-to-end ecosystem which can be a game changer for the world,” the Chief Minister said under the Telangana Rising Vision, unveiled by his government, the State aspires to transform into the textile capital of South Asia by 2047. “From cotton fields of Telangana to fashion shows in London, New York, Paris, Milan..., we will be your partners across the value chain,” he said, seeking to highlight how the State is keen on replicating the success it has achieved in vaccine and pharmaceutical drug production.

Calling upon investors to make the most of the opportunity, Mr. Reddy said “together, let us weave a new future. Telangana is rising. Come join the rise.”

With environmental sustainability its top priority, the State wants to create green textile hubs. It is also focused on skilling the youth, especially women, to combine traditional knowledge with the latest tools in designing, cutting, and stitching, he said, pointing out “we have textiles in our DNA. During Nizam rule, traders from all over the world came to buy cloth and pearls. We are one of the largest producers of cotton in India and host the Kakatiya Textile Park.”

Industries and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu said, “To us, textiles are not merely an industry or a business. They represent social justice, especially for the weavers at the grassroots. Our government is committed to ensuring that the weaver is not confined to being a labourer within the global supply chain, but evolves into an entrepreneur and stakeholder.”

The government wants to transform Telangana’s textile sector by looking beyond production and build an ecosystem that actively promotes innovation as part of Vision 2047.

Handlooms and Textiles Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao and Principal Secretary to the Department of Handlooms, Textiles and Handicrafts Shailaja Ramaiyer spoke of the policy initiatives of the State government to promote growth of textile industry. The conference is organised by the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI) in association with Telangana government.

CITI chairman Ashwin Chandran said though Asia is the powerhouse of global textile, various factors from unpredictable trade environment, sluggish growth and significant labour attrition call for a collective rethink of the strategies to remain globally competitive and resilient. The conference will serve as a platform for the stakeholders to deliberate. The industry is also going through a profound transformation due to the ongoing geopolitical developments, he said.
