Doctors in Telangana have raised concerns over the sequencing of recruitments undertaken by the Medical and Health Services Recruitment Board (MHSRB), alleging poor planning and administrative oversight in the ongoing process.
The issue centers on two recent notifications issued by the board. The first, released in June 2025, pertains to the recruitment of Assistant Professors under the Directorate of Medical Education (DME). This was followed by another notification in August 2025 for the recruitment of Civil Assistant Surgeons (Specialists) under the Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad (TVVP).
According to doctors, despite the Assistant Professor recruitment being announced earlier, the Health department is prioritising the recruitment of Civil Assistant Surgeons. “Many candidates tend to prefer Assistant Professor positions in DME institutions over specialist roles in TVVP hospitals, as the former offer opportunities in medical education alongside clinical practice,” they said.
A doctor pointed out that if the TVVP recruitment process is completed ahead of DME appointments, candidates who secure both positions may initially join TVVP posts but subsequently resign upon being selected as Assistant Professors. “Such a development could lead to vacancies reopening in specialist posts that were already filled, resulting in a waste of administrative effort, time and public resources,” the doctor added.
Doctors have suggested that completing the DME Assistant Professor recruitment first would reduce likelihood of resignations, prevent the recycling of vacancies and ensure more efficient utilisation of available medical manpower.
