The Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TGSWREIS), on Saturday issued a caution alert for parents and students about reports of fraudulent practices for securing admissions into Gurukuls.

Reportedly, middlemen and agents were collecting money from unsuspecting parents with promises of guaranteed admission, it said.

It was said that ‘certain individuals were found to have used fabricated letterheads bearing the names and logos of elected public representatives, including MLAs and MPs, to convince parents of their legitimacy’.

The Society said all the applications are processed digitally, students selected through the common entrance test, and has published the year’s merit list and marks on the official website.

In cases where selected students do not join within the stipulated time, the resulting vacant seats are filled on the basis of the next eligible candidates as per the merit list. But there is no deviation from the process, and seats in the Gurukuls are not for sale, it said.
