HYDERABAD: The full court of the Telangana high court, comprising all its judges, law officers, registrars, and members of the bar, on Friday accorded a warm farewell to Justice G Radha Rani, who demitted office upon superannuation.Acting Chief Justice Sujoy Paul and advocate general A Sudarshan Reddy praised Justice Radha Rani's distinguished judicial career, commending her contributions to jurisprudence, social justice, and unwavering commitment to constitutional values.In his address, the advocate general highlighted her legacy not only through her judicial pronouncements upholding truth and justice, but also her deep concern for a casteless and equitable society.
He said that Justice Radha Rani condemned honour killings and consistently emphasised that the law must safeguard individual freedom and equality.
She believed caste to be a deep-rooted cause of enduring injustice, and envisioned a casteless society-a vision, the AG said, young generations must strive to realise. Recalling her public engagement, the AG noted that in 2022, Justice Radha Rani participated in the golden jubilee celebrations of the Kula Nirmulana Samithi at Indira Park, where she spoke passionately about the urgent need to eradicate casteism in Indian society.
Quoting her words, he said that although India adopted a progressive, people-centric Constitution, the ideals of equality and fraternity are yet to take deep root in public consciousness.In her farewell speech, Justice Radha Rani expressed heartfelt gratitude to her colleagues, staff, and the legal fraternity, reflecting warmly on her time on the bench. She fondly remembered her father, Gurijala Sitaramaiah, a noted humanist who encouraged inter-caste marriages within their own family.
