Hyderabad: Telangana high court on Wednesday sought a response from police on the bail petition of minister of state (Home) Bandi Sanjay's son Bandi Sai Bageerath in a POCSO case registered against him at the Petbasheerabad police station.Justice K Sujana also issued notices to the complainant, the survivor girl 's mother in the case, and adjourned the matter to July 3 for further hearing.Bageerath was earlier granted a conditional bail by the trial court at Malkajgiri from June 19 to 25, allowing him to write his special supplementary BBA exams, following which he surrendered back to custody, with his remand extended to July 25, 2026.As his regular bail petitions before the trial court were dismissed thrice, he moved high court for bail.Bageerath 's counsel argued that he was innocent and that “the case is a concocted story filed with malicious intent to defame him due to political grudges”.Further, the complainant and the girl's statements have been recorded by the investigating officer and the magistrate, medical examinations were complete, and material witnesses have been examined, and so there was no risk of tampering with evidence or meddling with the investigation, the counsel argued.
The counsel also pointed to an unexplained five-month delay between the alleged incident and the filing of the police complaint. The counsel further argued that the case stems from a mutual adolescent romantic relationship that ended on a sour note. WhatsApp screenshots and photos allegedly prove that cordial and close relations existed between the families even after the alleged incidents, he added.Citing precedent apex court rulings, he requested bail and also assured that, if granted bail, he would comply with any court-mandated conditions.
