Telangana Police to receive national award for passport verification services

The Telangana Police has been selected for the Institutional Performance Award for State Police by the Ministry of External Affairs in recognition of its performance in passport verification services during the 2025-26 financial year.

The award recognises the department’s efficiency and timely verification of passport applications, a key component of the passport issuance process.

According to an official communication from the Ministry of External Affairs, the Telangana Police was chosen for the national-level award based on its performance in passport verification. The information was conveyed to DGP C.V. Anand by B.S. Mubarak, Joint Secretary (PSP) and Chief Passport Officer.

The award will be presented during the Passport Seva Divas and Passport Officers’ Conference scheduled to be held on June 18 and 19 at Jawaharlal Nehru Bhawan in New Delhi.

Union External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar is expected to present the award to DGP C.V. Anand on June 19 on behalf of the Telangana Police.

Speaking on the recognition, the DGP said police verification is one of the most important stages in the passport issuance process and that the award reflects the efforts of Telangana Police personnel in providing prompt and transparent services to citizens.

He attributed the achievement to the department’s technology-driven verification system, streamlined procedures and focus on improving public service delivery.
