Considering the prevailing heatwave in Telangana and the forecast for more severe conditions in the coming days, the Revenue (Disaster Management) department on Wednesday issued a memo detailing the steps to be taken by Collectors and various departments to mitigate the risks related to the weather.
Stating that heatwave poses a silent but deadly risk, the department said it disproportionately affects elderly population, children and pregnant women, outdoor workers (agriculture, construction, transport, sanitation), the urban poor and slum dwellers, and livestock and wildlife.
