Telangana’s EAGLE Force busts interstate marijuana racket, five held with ganja worth ₹1 crore

After nearly 18 months of surveillance stretching across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Maharashtra, the Telangana’s EAGLE Force has busted an interstate marijuana trafficking network, arresting five persons and seizing 200 kg of the contraband worth around ₹1 crore.

The arrested accused were identified as Amol Nanoba Gore, 35, and Laxman Nagnath Kare, 26, both from Latur district in Maharashtra, Vasantha Jadhav, 40, of Kamareddy district, and Shaik Ansar, 32, and Shaik Rahmath, 30, both from Kamareddy district.

Police identified Prabhu of Udgir in Maharashtra as the alleged financier and receiver of the consignment, while Devi Singh of Odisha is suspected to be the supplier. Both are absconding.

According to EAGLE Force Director Sandeep Shandilya, the operation began with intelligence inputs on the activities of some of the accused, including Amol Gore, who had previously been arrested in a marijuana trafficking case in Nalgonda district in which 336 kg of the contraband was seized.

“Teams began discreet surveillance on June 7 and tracked the suspects as they travelled to the border areas, allegedly collected the contraband and began their return journey towards Telangana and Maharashtra,” said the officer.

Rather than intercepting the vehicles immediately, EAGLE teams continued tailing them over a long distance to identify the entire network and confirm the movement of the consignment. “The operation culminated in the Khammam region, where our officers, assisted by Konijerla police and the EAGLE unit in Khammam, intercepted the vehicles and seized 104 packets containing 200 kg of marijuana,” explained the director.

Investigators suspect the network had transported marijuana consignments on earlier occasions and was preparing to deliver the latest shipment to Maharashtra. The probe has revealed that the alleged financier coordinated procurement, transportation and payments through a network of associates spread across multiple States.

Police said efforts are underway to apprehend the absconding accused.
