Telangana schools to reopen on June 15 instead of June 12
Hyderabad: Schools across Telangana will now reopen on June 15 instead of June 12, announced the school education department on Sunday.The decision was taken after the govt received representations from various stakeholders, with officials noting that June 13 and 14 fall on the second Saturday and Sunday, making the postponement more practical.To compensate for the three lost working days, July 11, which would normally be observed as a second Saturday holiday, will be a regular working day for all govt and private schools.Director of school education Dr E Naveen Nicolas issued the revised order on Sunday, directing all heads of departments, regional joint directors, and district education officers to communicate the changes to schools under their jurisdiction.Along with the postponement, the govt has also released the academic calendar for the 2026–27 academic year. According to the schedule, the last working day will be April 23, 2027, with a total of 227 working days. Summer vacation will begin on April 24 and continue until June 13, 2027.As per the calendar, the first Formative Assessment must be completed by July 31, while the second is scheduled by Sept 21. The first Summative Assessment will be conducted from Oct 1 to 9, followed by Dussehra holidays from Oct 10 to 22.
The third Formative Assessment must be completed by Dec 10. Sankranti holidays will be observed from Jan 13 to 17, 2027.For Class 10 students, the syllabus must be completed by Jan 10, 2027. Pre-final examinations are to be conducted before Feb 28, followed by the SSC Board Examinations in March.For Classes 1 to 9, the syllabus must be completed by Feb 28, with the second Summative Assessment scheduled from April 9 to 19, 2027.Additionally, remedial classes for students in Classes 1 to 9 will be conducted daily during the post-lunch session until the end of Sept.
