Telangana sets target of 12 crore workdays under VB-GRAM G scheme

Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Danasari Anasuya (Seethakka) on Tuesday directed officials to ensure the generation of 12 crore workdays across Telangana under the VBG Ram-G scheme during the current financial year.

Addressing a video conference with District Additional Collectors (Local Bodies) and other officials, the Minister reviewed the Gram Panchayat Comprehensive Development Plan (GPCDP), utilisation of 16th Finance Commission funds, implementation of the VB-GRAM G Act, employment guarantee works, drinking water supply, sanitation and rural infrastructure development.

Ms. Seethakka said the State government had approved ₹6,311 crore for the VBG Ram-G scheme for the current financial year.

Emphasising preparedness in view of the possible impact of El Nino, the Minister said water conservation works should be given top priority. She directed officials to establish a soak pit for every household, develop a farm pond for every field, create a percolation tank in every village, undertake at least one borewell recharge structure in every village and dig 1,000 new agricultural wells across the State.

The Minister also announced that a three-day training programme would be conducted across Telangana from July 8 to 10 for sarpanches, panchayat secretaries, engineers and officials of related departments.

Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Special Chief Secretary Dana Kishore, Commissioner Divya Devarajan, Special Commissioner Srilakshmi and other officials participated in the conference.
