Temple theft suspect arrested, ₹93L recovered

A 47-year-old man, Chinta Ganesh, has been arrested for stealing gold jewellery from a car parked on the temple campus of Sri Veera Venkata Satyanarayana Swamy Vari Devasthanam on Annavaram hill in Kakinada district.

Ganesh, a native of Allavaram mandal in Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Konaseema district, has been reportedly involved in theft of gold jewellery from the vehicles of devotees coming to the temples of Annavaram, Dwaraka Tirumala and other places. 

In a press conference held on Thursday, Superintendent of Police G. Bindu Madhav said; “A total of 989 grams of gold jewellery, including 257 grams of jewellery stolen from the Annavaram temple campus in July, have been recovered. The total worth of recovered jewellery is above ₹93 lakh”. The police have registered a case and the investigation is on.
