Kochi: A 46-year-old man was attacked by a tenant with a hammer and an iron bar following an argument over quality of water supplied to his rented accommodation at Kannadikkad.Police have registered an FIR and begun an investigation into the complaint. The man has alleged that the tenant, identified as Sharath of Malappuram, bit him and assaulted his wife. The incident allegedly happened on Wednesday evening and police registered a case on Thursday.
Officers said the accused was reportedly inebriated during the alleged attack.Complainant runs a welding workshop near the house. Sharath saw him at the workshop and complained about the water quality. The landlord told him to vacate in response and the accused turned violent.Complainant has alleged that he threatened him and his wife, after which he hit him on the right shoulder with an iron bar. The accused also bit him multiple times, the complainant alleged. He also alleged that the accused put a flowerpot on the shoulder of his wife and threw an iron bar at her. He also vandalised the shop, damaging his welding set. The man has also alleged that he damaged the front door of his house using a hammer and broke a portion of the wall of his house.Statement of the tenant will also be recorded, police said.
