VARANASI: Tension gripped the Daalmandi area on Monday after a road-widening and demolition drive led to the removal of at least 21 structures, triggering panic among residents and shop owners.A heavy police presence and senior administrative officials were deployed to prevent any escalation, as the situation in the locality remained tense.
Around 500 police personnel, including women officers drawn from multiple police stations, have been stationed in the area. Authorities are also using drones to monitor the situation and maintain law and order.
