The Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE) on Monday released a brochure to introduce multidisciplinary undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in emerging areas.

The new academic initiatives are designed to align higher education in Telangana with emerging global trends, industry requirements and aspirations of the youth. The courses will cover a wide range of emerging fields including Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, FinTech, Defence and Security Studies, Aviation and Air Traffic Management, Tourism and Hospitality, Healthcare Management, Biomedical Sciences, Climate Science, Rural Development, Maritime Management and other interdisciplinary domains.

Chairman V. Balakista Reddy said the key feature of the new academic framework is the CORE-PURE-RARE model, which integrates urban, peri-urban and rural perspectives into higher education. Under this model, students will participate in credit-based coursework, field work and projects that address the developmental needs of different regions of the State, thereby contributing to inclusive and balanced regional development.

The programmes are student-friendly features with flexible three-year and four-year undergraduate structures, multiple entry and exit options, and the Academic Bank of Credits to allow students to pause and resume their studies without losing academic progress. Internships, industry projects and field-based learning will form an integral part of the curriculum.

The Council also proposes to introduce an AI Tutor initiative to assist students in doubt clarification, bilingual explanations, coding support and academic guidance.

TGCHE will conduct awareness programmes on these new courses, and the same will be broadcast on T-SAT from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday onwards.

The programme can be viewed on ’https://youtube.com/live/4Gv07daaH2s’.
