Hyderabad: In a push to diversify its revenue streams beyond passenger fares, the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has decided to lease out 694 vacant commercial spaces across the state.The initiative marks one of the corporation’s biggest commercial monetisation exercises in recent years, with vacant shops and commercial complexes located at bus stations, depots and transport hubs set to be allotted through a transparent tender process. Details of all available commercial spaces have been uploaded on the corporation’s official website.TGSRTC MD Y Nagi Reddy said: “With lakhs of commuters passing through RTC bus stations every day, the corporation believes its commercial properties offer a ready customer base for businesses ranging from restaurants, food courts and supermarkets to branded retail outlets and neighbourhood stores.”The TGSRTC has made public comprehensive details of its commercial assets on its website, including the location of shops, vacancy status, existing occupants, lease tenure and prevailing rents. The corporation said tenders for the 694 vacant places across Telangana will be notified shortly. “This initiative will be mutually beneficial. It offers businesses access to prime locations with assured public footfall, while helping TGSRTC strengthen its financial position through additional revenue,” Nagi Reddy said.
