Composer Thaman S is all set to add another milestone to his career. Known for delivering chartbusters across Telugu and Tamil cinema, the musician will now make his Malayalam debut with Suresh Gopi's landmark 250th film, 'Ottakomban'. The makers officially announced the development, confirming that Thaman has replaced 'Animal' composer Harshavardhan Rameshwar as the film's music director.

Thaman S joins 'Ottakomban'

The announcement marks Thaman's first-ever Malayalam project. The composer, who has scored music for several blockbuster South Indian films, has now come on board the long-awaited action entertainer headlined by Suresh Gopi.Produced by Gokulam Gopalan under the Sree Gokulam Movies banner, 'Ottakomban' is being directed by debutant Mathews Thomas from a script penned by Shibin Francis. Executive producer Krishnamoorthy expressed his excitement over the collaboration, stating that the team is delighted to introduce a composer of Thaman's stature to Malayalam cinema through the film.Harshavardhan Rameshwar, best known for his work in 'Animal', was initially attached to compose the soundtrack before the latest change.

A project that overcame multiple hurdles

'Ottakomban' has been in development for several years and encountered numerous delays before reaching the production stage. Legal disputes, the COVID-19 pandemic and scheduling conflicts repeatedly pushed the film's timeline.After finally going on floors in December 2024, filming resumed in April 2025 following another brief pause due to Suresh Gopi's commitments as a Union minister.

A mass action entertainer mounted on a grand scale

The film features Suresh Gopi as Kadavakkunnel Kuruvachan, a larger-than-life character believed to be inspired by a real-life personality. Earlier promotional material, including the first-look poster, showcased the veteran actor in an intense action avatar, generating considerable excitement among fans.Abhinaya plays the female lead, while the supporting cast includes Lal, Chemban Vinod Jose, Vijayaraghavan, Lalu Alex, Kabir Duhan Singh, Johny Antony, Biju Pappan and Meghana Raj.

According to the makers, the ensemble also features more than 70 actors, including several newcomers.

Thaman adds another big-ticket film to his career

Thaman has remained one of the busiest composers in South Indian cinema, delivering music for several high-profile releases in recent years. His recent works include 'Game Changer', 'Daaku Maharaaj' and 'Ustaad Bhagat Singh'.Shot across picturesque locations in Kerala and Hong Kong, 'Ottakomban' is being mounted on a lavish scale. The film is co-produced by VC Praveen and Baiju Gopalan, with Krishnamoorthy serving as executive producer.
