Thane’s Nilay, Nashik’s Swara emerge champions

Nagpur: Nilay Pattekar of Thane and Nashik’s Swara Karmarkar registered victories in contrasting fashion to win the U-17 titles in the first Maharashtra State ranking table tennis tournament at the Subhedar Hall on Monday.In the boys title clash, third-seeded Nilay prevailed over Pune’s Advay Huddar in straight games 11-3, 11-6, 11-3 to emerge champion.In the girls’ final, top-seeded Swara recorded a hard-fought 11-9, 8-11, 11-6, 11-9 title triumph over second-seeded Myraa Sangelkar from Mumbai Suburban District.Later, the prizes were distributed by the officials of Nagpur District Table Tennis Association.
