Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot is set to complete five years in office on Friday.
Mr. Gehlot assumed office as the 19th Governor of Karnataka on July 11, 2021, during the BJP government. A native of Ujjain district in Madhya Pradesh, he has served multiple terms as a Member of the Legislative Assembly and as a Member of Parliament in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha.
Before his appointment as Governor, Mr. Gehlot was Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment from 2014 to 2021. He has also been associated with social work and labour movements and has represented India at various international forums.
Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar called on the Governor at Raj Bhavan on July 8 and extended greetings.
