The Quad, a first-of-its-kind airport food and beverage (F&B) plaza in India, which was opened in 2019 at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), is being refurbished.

Situated in front of the airport’s Terminal-1 arrival area, The Quad is a popular destination not only for passengers but other visitors to the airport as well.

Apart from the F&B outlets and retail shops it also featured The Arena where live sports screenings and entertaining performances were held.

“The Quad is something we are very proud of. We started it as an experiment, a first-of-its-kind in the country and also one of the few of its kind around the world where arrival passengers and also non-travellers can use the facilities,” Pravat Paikray, Vice-president (Commercial), Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), told The Hindu.

Mr. Paikray added that the F&B outlets and the retail shops at The Quad would be doubled once it is fully refurbished.

“The Quad is getting reimaged in a much larger and much bigger way. Construction work has already started and we would be doubling up everything, and we are trying to bring in new brands, new concepts and entertainment elements. It will be opened soon in phases,” Mr. Paikray added.

He also said that another The Quad like plaza would come up at the Terminal-2 of the airport which would be opened in another six months to one year.

Apart from The Quad plazas, the BIAL is also planning to start F&B outlets and retail shops near the Multi-Modal Transport Hub (MMTH) which is built to offer seamless public transport options for passengers and visitors to travel between the Bengaluru city and airport.

“We are also coming up with multiple outlets at the MMTH, which will include starbuck reserve, a micro brewery F&B and retail stores. All these are being aligned with the metro rail so once metro connectivity to the airport becomes operational we will be ready with all these,” he said.

The Namma Metro’s 58.19-km Blue Line, once operational, will link Bengaluru’s southern, southeastern, eastern, and northern neighbourhoods directly to the airport.
