The Taylor Swift and Blake Lively friendship is officially over after a shocking wedding snub, say insiders

Blake Lively spent the weekend of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's July 3 wedding at a horse show in Lake Placid, New York -- hundreds of miles from Madison Square Garden, where the couple exchanged vows.

Photos obtained by TMZ showed Lively and husband Ryan Reynolds cheering on their daughter Betty at a local farm competition, a sight that quietly confirmed what weeks of insider reports had left open to speculation: Lively was not on the guest list.

For a friendship that once spanned over a decade, the snub lands with particular weight.

Why wasn't Blake Lively invited to Taylor Swift's wedding?

The roots of the falling out trace back to 2025 and the legal firestorm surrounding Lively's film It Ends With Us.

When Blake Lively filed a civil lawsuit against director Justin Baldoni in December 2024 -- alleging sexual harassment and a coordinated smear campaign -- Swift was pulled into the narrative through an alleged informal meeting she had with Lively, Baldoni, and Reynolds over Lively's involvement in the project.

Swift was not happy about it.The lawsuit was eventually settled earlier in 2026, with neither party receiving any financial payout.

As the legal noise faded, so too did some of the tension -- at least according to sources who spoke to The Daily Mail in June, claiming Taylor Swift had extended an "olive branch" to Lively with a reconciliation phone call weeks before the wedding. A source for Extra later denied that report outright.Multiple insiders had suggested in the weeks leading up to the ceremony that things were warming between the two. "Taylor was not happy about being dragged into the lawsuit but was more receptive to speaking to Blake as the suit came to a close," one source said.

"Blake was ready to resume their friendship because it really was what caused its demise." Another added: "Blake is on the cusp of getting a second chance, and they have had some loose conversations to test the waters to get the trust back.

"There were even reports, via Rob Shuter's Naughty But Nice Substack, that Blake Lively had a dress picked out on the off chance a last-minute invitation arrived. "Blake genuinely believes there's still a path back," the insider said.

"Now that the legal mess is over, she thinks the hardest part is behind her and there's real hope they can move forward." The photos from Lake Placid suggest that path remains closed, at least for now. What makes the exclusion more pointed is the company that was invited. The wedding guest list reportedly included Sacha Baron Cohen, Brad Pitt, and Steven J. Demetriou -- figures who have faced their own serious allegations in public life.

The apparent line was drawn at Lively, whose drama had the misfortune of ensnaring Swift directly.

Is the Taylor Swift and Blake Lively Friendship Over?

Taylor Swift and Blake Lively's friendship had been one of the more visible in celebrity circles -- long-standing, publicly warm, and seemingly bulletproof. The fracture began quietly. When Swift announced her engagement to Kelce, Lively did not publicly congratulate her, which sources at the time read as a telling silence.

From there, the two appeared to exist in separate orbits, even as Swift remains the godmother to Lively and Reynolds' children.

Sources close to Lively insist she has never fully given up. "She knows not everything snaps back overnight," one insider said. "But Blake believes removing the chaos changes everything. She thinks once the noise is gone, there's room for real healing." Another source claimed the two "never fully stopped being friends" and that Lively's image concerns were also a factor -- she reportedly did not "want to be seen as not going to the wedding.

"Swift and Kelce married at Madison Square Garden on July 3, 2026. The venue announced the news on the jumbotron with the text "JUST&T MARRIED!" Both wore Christian Dior Haute Couture designed by Jonathan Anderson. Swift's brother Austin served as her Man of Honor, while Kelce's brother Jason was Best Man. She completed the look with Christian Louboutin shoes and Cartier jewelry. It was, by all accounts, a night built exactly to Swift's specifications -- and Lively was not part of it.Whether the friendship has a future is unclear. What the weekend made plain is that whatever reconciliation was quietly taking shape did not move fast enough -- or far enough -- to earn Lively a seat in the building.
