Ex-NHL goalie Dominik Hasek vehemently denounced the summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin held at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska, on August 15, 2025.

Hasek, a Czech native and outspoken opponent of the current war in Ukraine, voiced his worries on social media. He called Donald Trump, “applauded the criminal with a smile” and once acclaimed him as “the weakest President.”

Dominik Hasek Criticizes Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin’s Alaska Summit Red Carpet Welcome

Dominik Hasek criticized the warm reception given to Vladimir Putin during the Alaska summit. In a tweet, Hašek stated,

“I will never forget in my life that on August 15, 2025, American soldiers rolled out the red carpet for the greatest criminal of the 21st century.”He further described the event, saying,“And on that carpet, the US President applauded the criminal with a smile, shook his hand, and walked along the carpet with him.”Ten years after his first visit to the United States, the summit signaled Putin's inaugural Western country journey following Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine. Leaders walked out of their planes during the celebration, met on the crimson carpet, exchanged handshakes, and smiled for photographs.

U.S. warplanes flew overhead as part of the welcome. Later, Trump and Putin traveled together in the U.S. President’s armored vehicle to the summit location. Also Read: “Body Language Of Beaten Man”: Martina Navratilova Calls Out Donald Trump Following Failed Peace Talks With Vladimir Putin

Dominik Hasek slams Donald Trump as ‘weakest President’ after Russian missile strike on Kyiv

This criticism is not the first time Hasek has spoken out against President Trump. In July 2025, following a Russian missile and drone strike on Kyiv, Hašek labeled Trump “the weakest president” and accused him of enabling Russia’s aggression. He wrote on X,

“The weakest president! @realDonaldTrump chatted with the biggest criminal of the 21st century, Putin, and he immediately sent more than 500 drones and ballistic missiles to the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv. Many injured, including children. Trump is doing everything he can to help Putin in his imperialist goals and has proven more than once that he is indifferent to the Ukrainian people. Despicable.”Dominik Hasek's strong posture shows his great worry about the continuing war in Ukraine and his conviction that world leaders should be held responsible for their behavior.
