Former BJP leader K Annamalai on Saturday shared a video on social media alleging that more than 20 cadres of the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) entered a government school near Uthiramerur in Kanchipuram district in Tamil Nadu, interrupted classes and installed a photograph of Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay inside a classroom. He also claimed that the party members filmed the event for circulation on social media.

In a post on X, Annamalai criticised the incident, pointing to the challenges faced by government schools in the state, including inadequate infrastructure and concerns over educational standards. He said the state’s School Education Minister Rajmohan should focus on the “monumental task of restoring their former glory."

“However, actions like these by TVK party members only serve to further worsen the plight of government schools," he emphasised.

Speaking on behalf of members of his recently launched political movement, Annamalai said, “We believe that Chief Minister Thiru @TVKVijayHQ would not condone members of the ruling party visiting government schools and disrupting classes (sic)."

Annamalai Appeals To CM To Prevent Repeat Incidents

He further appealed to the Chief Minister and the School Education Minister to ensure that similar incidents do not happen again. “We urge the Chief Minister and the Minister for School Education to instruct their party members to ensure that such incidents do not recur," he further wrote.

Earlier this week, Annamalai criticised the Centre’s “military-grade" security arrangements for NEET-UG 2026 retest, arguing that such measures would heighten stress among students already under pressure. He said the steps undermined the objective of reducing exam-related anxiety under the NEP 2020.

In June, Annamalai launched a new political movement, which he said would eventually evolve into a political party and contest the 2031 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
