Minister for Industries P. Rajeeve has said that people behind the narrative that the Left should not be allowed to return to power in the State for a third term were trying to weaken the front.
He alleged that this narrative was created by the Opposition to propagate an impression among the public that the Left should not be allowed to come back to power for the third consecutive time.
On poet K. Satchidanandan’s remarks cautioning against the dangers of continuous rule citing West Bengal as a warning example, Mr. Rajeeve said that the Left Front has the capability to address the criticism by making necessary corrections.
The State will face a crisis if the Left rule is not continued, he claimed while referring to the criticism by Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala against the early distribution of school textbooks for the upcoming academic year and the opposition against the Wayanad tunnel project and high-speed rail projects.
He asked whether those speaking against a third term for the Left in the State would adopt a similar stance in States like West Bengal and Tamil Nadu. The Minister asked whether they would oppose another term for Chief Minister M.K. Stalin in Tamil Nadu or for the government in West Bengal. He said that such voices will only aid the return of the Bharatiya Janata Party to power.
