The Charminar Task Force arrested three people on Friday, July 3, for allegedly using the same registration number on three different Honda Activa scooters to mislead government authorities, enforcement agencies and a financier in the Warasiguda police station limits.

The arrested persons were identified as Nakoti Mallikarjun, 28, a lighting business owner from Kamala Nehru Nagar, Parsigutta, Bheem Ajay Reddy, 29, a businessman from Kamala Nehru Nagar near Baddi Pochamma Temple, Parsigutta, and Koppula Dhanraj, 30, a collection agent from Sanjeevapuram, Parsigutta, all in Secunderabad.

Police seized three Honda Activa scooters, all displaying the same registration number, TS 09 FE 4997.

According to the police, the trio was caught after task force personnel intercepted Bheem Ajay Reddy while he was riding a Honda Activa bearing the registration number TS 09 FE 4997. Verification of the vehicle through official databases and examination of its engine and chassis numbers revealed that it was an unregistered financed vehicle.

During interrogation, police found that the scooter originally belonged to a man identified as Sai Ram, who had handed it over to Nakoti Mallikarjun against a pending debt. Investigators alleged that Mallikarjun affixed a duplicate registration plate from his own legally registered Honda Activa, also bearing the number TS 09 FE 4997, to conceal the financed vehicle from repossession by IndusInd Bank, as an outstanding amount of ₹36,000 remained unpaid.

Police further alleged that Mallikarjun later handed the scooter to Bheem Ajay Reddy and also allowed his friend Koppula Dhanraj to use the same registration number on another unregistered Honda Activa to avoid traffic challans. Acting on Mallikarjun’s instructions, all three allegedly used the identical registration number on three separate scooters to mislead government authorities, enforcement agencies and the financier.
