Three from Tamil Nadu arrested for burglaries in Chittoor, ₹27.8 lakh recovered

The Chittoor district police on Friday (June 19, 2026) arrested a three-member inter-state burglary gang allegedly involved in a series of house break-ins across the district and recovered stolen property worth ₹27.8 lakh.

The accused were identified as R. Godwin Moses (33), S. Murugan (37), and V. Vignesh (26), all natives of Vaniyambadi in Tamil Nadu. They were nabbed during vehicle checks at the Paleru bridge near Bangarupalem.

Superintendent of Police Tushar Dudi stated that the gang’s modus operandi was to target locked houses during the day in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Their arrest led to the police solving six burglary cases reported from Gouripuram, Veluturuchenu and Ragimanupenta villages in Bangarupalem mandal, and Karidimadugu, Chinnakunta and Kalavapalli villages in Palamaner mandal.

The police recovered 181.5 grams of gold ornaments valued at about ₹24 lakh, 307 grams of silver ornaments worth ₹80,000, a car allegedly used in the crimes valued at ₹2.5 lakh, and a scooter worth ₹50,000.
