Three held for allegedly blocking Tharoor’s car, assaulting his gunman, driver

The police arrested three persons in connection with an alleged attack on Congress’s MP Shashi Tharoor’s vehicle at Wandoor on Friday night. A case has been registered against five persons based on a complaint filed by Mr. Tharoor’s gunman and driver.

The incident occurred at Chellithode near Wandoor while Mr. Tharoor was en route to attend an election rally for Congress candidate in Wandoor, A.P. Anil Kumar.

The police said that a group of individuals travelling on two motorcycles blocked Mr. Tharoor’s car and began verbally abusing him and the driver over a road obstruction.

When the gunman attempted to clear the block, both he and the driver were allegedly assaulted by the group.

The police said that the incident took place on a narrow road.
