The Ministry of Railways has announced the conversion of three Hyderabad-originating special trains into regular services, benefiting passengers across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on Friday. The move comes in response to sustained demand on these routes.
The trains are: Kacheguda-Tuticorin Express (Train Nos. 17165/17616) replaces the Kacheguda-Madurai special. It will depart Kacheguda on Mondays at 3 p.m and arrives in Tuticorin on Tuesdays. It returns Wednesdays, reaching Kacheguda on Thursdays at 1:25 p.m.
Hyderabad-Kanyakumari Express (Train Nos. 17069/17070) replaces the Hyderabad-Kanyakumari special. It departs Hyderabad on Wednesdays at 5:20 p.m., arrives at Kanyakumari on Fridays at 2:30 a.m. It returns on Fridays, reaching Hyderabad on Saturdays at 2:30 p.m.
Cherlapalli-Shalimar Amrit Bharat Express (Train Nos. 17065/17066) replaces the Cherlapalli-Shalimar special. It departs Cherlapalli on Tuesdays, 7:15 a.m., arrives at Shalimar on Wednesdays at 11:20 a.m. It returns on Wednesdays, reaching Cherlapalli on Thursdays at 7 p.m.
Union Minister for Coal & Mines G. Kishan Reddy welcomed the decision and expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, noting the Centre’s continued focus on strengthening railway infrastructure in Telangana.
Mr. Reddy has pointed out that TG has received ₹36,286 crore in railway budget allocations since 2014 and projects worth ₹47,984 crore are currently underway in the State. About 40 railway stations are being upgraded under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme with an investment of ₹2,668 crore. About five Vande Bharat and four Amrit Bharat trains are being run and recently, surveys for three high speed corridors has been approved recently, said a press release
