Three staff suspended

Kalaburagi: KKRTC suspended three staff members from its Chincholi depot after allegations that a bus was driven in the dark, due to a lighting malfunction, with the aid of light from a mobile phone.

SG Gangadhara, the divisional controller of KKRTC Kalaburagi Division-1, issued the suspension order against Shivananda (technical staff), Basavaraja (technical supervisor) and Akash (bus driver) in connection with the incident. News regarding the incident, alleging that the bus was driven in the dark using only the light from a mobile phone due to a headlight malfunction, was published on Saturday night, and videos showing the bus being driven in the dark went viral on social media. Following an investigation into the incident, the agency identified Shivananda, a technical staff member who failed to perform his duties adequately when the vehicle was brought to the unit for repairs, and Basavaraja, a technical supervisor who was negligent in his supervision.

The statement further announced that suspension action was taken in the public interest against driver Akash, who drove the bus negligently without proceeding to the nearest depot for repairs as per the organisation’s regulations.
