A case under the POCSO Act has been registered against three teenagers aged between 16 and 19 on charges of sexually assaulting a minor girl in Thanjavur district. The minor girl studying in a government school brought it to the notice of a Singapenn Special Force team during an awareness programme held in the institution a couple of days ago.
The girl narrated the crime committed against her to the Singappen Special Force team. Acting on information, the Child Welfare Officer visited the school and conducted inquiries with the minor girl and her mother. Following this, a case under different sections of the POCSO Act was registered on a complaint preferred by the victim’s mother against the three teenagers who were subsequently lodged in the Government Observation Home. The Vallam All Women Police are investigating.
