Nashik: Three teenagers drowned in a rainwater-filled quarry near Amalner in Jalgaon on Tuesday afternoon after venturing into the water for a swim.The deceased have been identified as Manav Ratnani (14), Kartik Udhvani (14) and Dinesh Panjwani (17), all residents of the Sindhi Colony area of Amalner.Inspector Dattatray Nikam, of the Amalner police station, said, “The three friends had gone to a water-filled quarry for a swim on Tuesday. Around 5pm, a passerby noticed the boys struggling in the water and alerted the authorities through the 112 emergency helpline.”Police teams rushed to the spot after receiving the alert. However, by the time they reached, a local resident had managed to pull two of the boys out of the water. The third teenager was later recovered in the presence of police personnel.All three boys were taken to a nearby govt hospital, where doctors declared them brought dead. The Amalner police have registered a case of accidental death and launched a further investigation into the incident.
