VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan on Wednesday described as ‘shocking and worrying’ the developments in AIADMK that led to the resignation of C Vijayabaskar and other MLAs.
Trichy: VCK leader and Chidambaram Lok Sabha MP Thol Thirumavalavan has claimed that several people attempted to sabotage the DMK alliance before the assembly election, including one through him, but he did not yield to their designs.
However, now he did not possess the power to sustain the DMK alliance, he said in Trichy on Sunday.“VCK functioned as a responsible political party to safeguard the DMK alliance. But now, people like me do not have the power to retain the alliance. Only DMK can answer that,” the VCK chief said when reporters asked him about parties leaving the Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA).He appreciated the TVK-led govt withdrawing the proposal to outsource solid waste management in 12 municipal corporations, and releasing white paper on the state’s finances. VCK would convene a state-level conference to observe Tamil Awakening Day (Tamilar Ezhuchi Naal) on Aug 17, his birthday, but the location is yet to be finalized. Appreciating the closure of Tasmac outlets in public places, Thirumavalavan said a national-level policy on prohibition is needed to curtail liquor addiction across the country.
