In a disturbing incident in Chhattisgarh, a man allegedly subjected his wife to severe abuse, including assaulting her, shaving her head and forcing her to consume urine. Subsequently, he was arrested.

The police action came after videos purportedly showing the incident circulated widely on social media, prompting police to strengthen the charges against him.

The incident is said to have occurred on June 14 in Pandopara village in Korea district. Police said the woman, who is in her mid-30s, initially filed a complaint on June 15 accusing her husband, identified as Jitendra Ghasiya, of beating her while he was intoxicated.

Woman Alleges Brutal Assault By Husband

Based on her complaint, police first booked the accused under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) dealing with cruelty by a husband or his relatives, voluntarily causing hurt, obscene acts and criminal intimidation.

Officials said the complainant did not reveal the full extent of the abuse when she first approached the police. However, after videos surfaced online allegedly depicting the assault, investigators added Section 123 of the BNS, which pertains to administering harmful or intoxicating substances with the intent to cause injury.

According to a report in Hindustan Times, the woman said she married Ghasiya around 15 years ago and that the couple has four children who currently stay with him. She alleged that her husband suspected her of infidelity and had deserted her about a year ago, after which she began living with an acquaintance.

Accused Threatened To Burn Wife Alive, Claims Woman

According to her account, Ghasiya came to her residence on June 14, tied her hands and legs before assaulting her. She alleged that he cut her hair with scissors, shaved her head with a blade, forced urine into her mouth and poured a child’s urine over her body. She added that he also threatened to set her on fire.

“He tied my hands and legs, assaulted me and abused me. He first cut my hair with scissors and then shaved my head with a blade. He forcibly poured urine into my mouth and also poured a child’s urine on me. He threatened to burn me alive," she alleged, the report mentioned.

Videos purportedly linked to the incident appear to show the accused slapping and kicking the woman, shaving her head, smearing a dark substance on her face and body, and leaving her clothes torn during the attack. Further investigation was underway.
