Officials inspect the hotel where President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to stay during her visit to Visakhapatnam
Visakhapatnam: Ahead of President Droupadi Murmu’s visit to the city for the inaugural convocation of the Central Tribal University on June 30, police have imposed a temporary no-drone zone from Vizag airport to Hotel Novotel from June 29 to July 1 to ensure high-level security.Commissioner of police Dr Shankabratha Bagchi announced that a temporary ‘red zone’ has been declared from the airport to Novotel to ensure fool-proof security during the President’s visit to the city. The restrictions will remain in force from 2 pm on June 29 to 2 pm on July 1, he added.As part of the security protocol, flying drones has been prohibited within a two-kilometre radius of the route connecting the airport and the private hotel.
The police warned that any person found operating drones or violating the prohibitory orders would face stringent legal action under the provisions of the Aircraft Act, 1934.Visakhapatnam district collector M Abhishikth Kishore directed officials to ensure meticulous arrangements for the visit. Officials are coordinating across departments to maintain tight security and smooth conduct of the high-profile programme.
