Jamie Vardy may be 38, but apparently nobody told his legs — or his sense of humour.

On a rainy Monday night in Bologna, the former Leicester City fairy-tale frontman scored his first Serie A brace, leading Cremonese to a superb 3–1 win and handing Bologna their first home loss of the season.

Cremonese, newly promoted and sitting comfortably mid-table with 17 points, were already 1-0 up thanks to Martin Payero when Vardy decided to sprinkle a little Premier League nostalgia on the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara.

Federico Bonazzoli sent him through, and Vardy did what Vardy does — slotted the ball right through goalkeeper Federico Ravaglia’s legs. Vintage.

Bologna pulled one back via Riccardo Orsolini’s stoppage-time penalty, but the comeback lasted all of four minutes after halftime.

Tommaso Barbieri whipped in a first-time ball, Vardy darted ahead of Ravaglia, and suddenly the man who once powered Leicester to an impossible Premier League title was up to four goals in nine matches for his new Italian employers.

After the game, Vardy couldn’t resist a classic quip.

“I think we were just missing a bit of rain—this is a typical midweek in the UK."

But jokes aside, he was all business about Cremonese’s progress.

“The most important thing was getting the three points… It’s all about commitment and wanting what’s best for the club."

Coach Davide Nicola, clearly smitten, called having Vardy on the team a “privilege."

“Great players are easy to handle… He came here with the mentality of making himself available for the team."

Vardy joined Cremonese in September on a one-year deal — extendable if they stay up — and has openly embraced the experience, drawn by Italy’s football culture and the club’s ambitious backing under billionaire owner Giovanni Arvedi.

Turns out, Vardy isn’t one to get lost in translation.
