TMC councillor Sushanta Ghosh arrested from Pipili hotel

Puri: Trinamool Congress (TMC) councillor Sushanta Ghosh, facing extortion charges in West Bengal, was arrested in Puri district on Wednesday.Ghosh, a Kolkata Municipal Corporation councillor, was apprehended by a team from Kolkata’s Anandapur police station from a hotel in Pipili, where he was allegedly staying in a bid to evade arrest.Puri SP Prateek Singh said the operation was carried out solely by Bengal police and local cops were not involved.Police sources said Ghosh was on the run since the extortion case was registered. Last Friday, police arrested his driver in Odisha during a search, while Ghosh and his family managed to flee. Police later tracked him to the Pipili hotel and arrested him on Wednesday.
