Senior IPS officer Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal assumed charge as the Director General of Police (DGP) and Head of the Police Force (HoPF) of Tamil Nadu on Wednesday following his repatriation from central deputation. Upon taking charge, he said the police would focus on ensuring the safety of women and children, strengthening action against narcotics offences and maintaining law and order across the state.
Chennai: Director general of police (DGP) Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal has directed police officers across the state to listen to complaints directly from members of the public twice a week to strengthen the grievance redress mechanism.
In a circular, the DGP instructed all officers to meet members of the public from 11am to 1pm on Wednesdays and Sundays to receive petitions and complaints directly at special grievance redress camps at their respective offices. He added that appropriate action must be taken on complaints received and that grievances must be addressed in a timely manner.
