Brison Fernandes and FC Goa are determined to book a place in the group stage of the AFC Champions League Two, where they could be grouped with Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr, captained by Cristiano Ronaldo
Margao: The debate over Cristiano Ronaldo versus Lionel Messi has divided football fans, and players, for nearly two decades. It’s no different at FC Goa with Ronaldo loyalists and an equal number of those who swear by Messi’s greatness. But the Goa camp is united in its determination to book a place in the group stage of the AFC Champions League Two, where they could be grouped with Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr, captained by Ronaldo.“All of us wonder how great it would be to play against a player of Ronaldo’s stature,” Brison told TOI on Tuesday. “Personally, I've been a huge fan. I adore him a lot and follow in every possible way, in whatever manner I can. To be on the same field as Ronaldo would be a dream.”The first step for a dream come true would be for Goa to put it across Al Seeb in the ACL Two playoff at Fatorda on Wednesday. There will be 32 teams in the group stage, divided in eight groups of four.Interestingly, Goa’s new Spanish midfielder David Timor has played alongside both Messi and Ronaldo during his time in La Liga, while Borja Herrera was up against Messi when Las Palmas faced Barcelona.
