After scaling his name on the PGA Tour for 15 years, Fleetwood celebrated a career-defining victory with a FedEx Cup and $10 million in winnings.
As much as Fleetwood treasured the experience, it was a bittersweet moment. His wife, Clare Fleetwood and stepson Murray “Mo” Craig could not be there to celebrate in person because of a family health situation.

During a press conference on September 10, Tommy Fleetwood shared the reason his family missed the tournament. Mo had undergone a spinal operation just over a month before the Tour Championship and spent more than three weeks in the hospital.
When Fleetwood performed in Atlanta, he was still recuperating. Clare stayed behind to look after Mo, ensuring he was cozy and safe. Oscar, Tommy's other stepson, could accompany him and see the triumph live. Fleetwood said that it was vital for him to be present on the course, even while some of his family remained at home.

Fleetwood reflected on what the win meant beyond the trophy. He said it was not just about being a champion on the golf course, but also about showing his children the power of resilience.
“It’s easy to tell the kids the right thing all the time, but being an example that it can happen for you if you keep going, I think more than anything, it was like, I had the opportunity to show my kids what can happen, and then like you can do it,” he said.The triumph underscored not only Tommy Fleetwood's ability but also the fact that he had the unconditional love and support of his family while navigating a difficult time. Winning his first PGA Tour title despite personal issues showed Fleetwood's children a lesson, and was a narrative of persistence that would encourage others.
