Tourist falls over 100-feet while taking selfie at Needle Rock View Point in Gudalur, rescue efforts on

A tourist, who was taking a selfie at the Needle Rock View Point near Gudalur sustained injuries after falling more than a 100-feet after he slipped from the cliff.

The injured, identified as Sivagurunathan, from Chengalpattu, was visiting the popular tourist spot on Thursday (March 19, 2026) and fell when he reportedly was taking a selfie on the cliff. In the fall, he suffered injuries which incapacitated him. Forest Department and Fire and Rescue Service personnel rushed to the spot and managed to secure him to a stretcher.
