Tovino Thomas has responded to the recent verdict in the actress assault case. Talking to the media, Tovino firmly stated that his position has always been clear, “The survivor must get justice; the culprits must be punished.
”As reported by Manorama Online, speaking to the media after casting his vote, the actor reiterated that ensuring justice is the highest priority. He added that those responsible for the crime must face the consequences without exception. Tovino made it clear that he has not examined the case file nor does he personally know the full details, but he believes the judicial process must be trusted.
Respects court verdict, awaits next steps
On Monday, the Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court delivered its verdict, acquitting actor Dileep after concluding that the conspiracy charge against him could not be proven.
Judge Honey M. Varghese declared the first six accused including Pulsar Suni , guilty, stating that all charges against them had been established.Reacting to the developments, Tovino said, “None of us has read the case file or witnessed what exactly happened. So trusting the court is the only thing we can do. If there is anything beyond that, I too am waiting to see.”He welcomed the government’s decision to appeal the acquittal, acknowledging the complexity and sensitivity of the case.
“It’s a good thing that the government is going for an appeal. What else can I say? Sometimes I may not even know as much as you media know about this matter,” he remarked.
Hearing on Friday - December 12
The court will conduct the hearing on the quantum of punishment for the convicted accused on Friday. Depending on the proceedings, the sentence may either be pronounced immediately or postponed. Those found guilty include Sunil alias Pulsar Suni, Martin Antony, Manikandan B., Vijesh V. P., Salim H., and Pradeep. The court had acquitted Dileep, Charley Thomas, Sanil Kumar alias Mesthri Sanil, and Sarath.Tovino concluded his statement by reaffirming his stance: “Whoever has done wrong must definitely be punished. Whoever has done wrong should not be spared under any circumstance.”
