Screening going on inside a toy train
Cinema hits the tracks as the DHRUMA Film Festival brings the first-ever screenings aboard the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, turning the region’s iconic toy train into a moving theatre.
Having begun on June 13, it will go on till June 15. The festival will screen films not just on board but also at venues like Kurseong Railway Station, Ram Krishna Siksha Parishad in Darjeeling, Elysia Palace Museum and The Cinderella Hotel in Siliguri. The festival invites viewers to experience films on the move, travelling through hills and platforms while the screen rolls on.

Audiences will also get the chance to meet filmmakers like Amitabha Singh, Sudharak Olwe and Anirban Datta through sessions woven into the journey. With a mix of films from across the country and stops that blend heritage with motion, DHRUMA turns every screening into a passage where the story and the setting move together.
