Tractor crushes toddler to death in UP, enraged locals torch vehicle

A toddler was killed in a tragic accident in Uttar Pradesh's Shravasti district, when a tractor with an attached paddy threshing machine ran over him while reversing. The incident quickly led to unrest in the village, with residents expressing their anger by torching the tractor.

According to initial reports, Kishan Yadav, the one-and-a-half-year-old son of Sahjram Yadav, was playing in front of his house when the accident occurred.

The tractor, which was passing through the village with the machine attached, began to reverse, and the child became trapped beneath its wheels.

Family members rushed the severely injured child to the hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries on the way.

Villagers intercepted the tractor, halted it, and soon after set it on fire. Fire brigade units arrived promptly at the scene, but by the time the blaze was controlled, most of the tractor had already been destroyed in the fire.

Upon receiving information about the incident, police managed to bring the situation under control and initiated an investigation into the events.

To maintain order, additional police personnel have been deployed in the village as a precautionary measure.

Authorities also reported that the tractor driver, identified as Ibrar, has been arrested.
